Blizzard has released patch 1.12 for and along with it is a no-CD update. No longer will you have to insert a CD to play the eight year old RPG, better late than never. Patch 1.12 also resets the game's ladder. Here are more detailed patch notes from: Downloadable Installer Support - If all required '.MPQ' files are installed on the hard drive, the game will no longer require the CD to play. For users that originally performed a 'Full Installation' and wish to run without the CD, all '.MPQ' files should be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory.
